Bruce Aitken wooden clock repair

Sometimes I get people walk into my workshop with a bit more than just a woodworking a problem. I've known the owner of this wooden clock for a number of years and have fixed a few things over that time. This time he could not get hold of the original maker. Bruce Aitken makes wonderful wooden clocks.

And so the owner has asked me to repair the pendulum weight. What happened was the cord that hangs down to the counter weight must have got caught somehow.. Well, it's all in the video here

Sometimes I'm not too happy to have to repair other makers pieces. This one is a weight for a very expensive completely wooden clock. (from £1900.00)
I'm not going to list all the things wrong with it. I've made this video of the repairs and my views are on there too.
I make things to last as many years as possible. That way I have happy customers and pieces don't come back. I'm not sure how often people take parts back to Mr Aitken but there's one less this time.

I have to say I do a pretty good job of sealing the wood after the repairs were done and then onto the finishing. Which was a little more shiny than before. But at least it won't (or really shouldn't) move from moisture again.

Thanks for stopping by. Here's the link to the video again.

All the best

Jamie
